Questions and answers
What is the Turkish residence permit for tax purposes?
As of October 2026, Aftera lists Turkey (tax) as a flexible, renewable short-term residence permit, rental- or property-based, obtained in about 1–3 months and used as a base for changing tax residency. The permit itself does not change tax residency: that requires actual presence, by the 183-day rule.
Does a Turkish residence permit remove my Russian tax obligations?
No. As of October 2026, a residence permit does not by itself end Russian tax residency; that depends on days of presence and the centre of vital interests, and there is no 'exit by application'. A Russian citizen must also notify the MVD of the permit within 60 days.
Will a Turkish account be visible to the Russian tax service?
Yes. As of October 2026, Turkey is on the FTS automatic-exchange (CRS) list in force from 22 December 2025, so data on accounts in Turkey is exchanged with Russia regardless of your passport or permit.
What does a Turkish residence permit give for banking?
As of October 2026, Turkish residency gives residency in a G20 economy, access to local banks and lira and FX accounts — a fast, inexpensive tie to the country. The final account decision always rests with the bank's compliance.
Can a Turkish company opened for residency become a CFC?
Yes. As of October 2026, if you remain a Russian tax resident and control a Turkish company opened for a residence permit or operations, it is a CFC: a participation notice within 3 months (fine 50,000 roubles) and an annual notice by 30 April (fine 500,000 roubles) apply regardless of profit.
