Overview

Grenada offers one of the most strategically valuable passports in the Caribbean. Beyond visa-free travel to over 145 destinations — including the United Kingdom, the Schengen Area, China and Singapore — it is the single Caribbean programme that qualifies citizens for the United States E-2 Treaty Investor visa.

Citizenship is granted for life and passes to future generations. There is no residence requirement (the authorities may call the applicant to an interview in Grenada or at an embassy), and Grenada does not tax foreign income, capital gains or inheritance.

Questions and answers

How much does Grenada citizenship cost in 2026?

As of October 2026, Grenada citizenship starts from a $235,000 contribution to the National Transformation Fund for a single applicant, or approved real estate from $270,000. Due diligence for every adult, government and passport fees and legal support are added on top. Grenada does not accept citizens of Russia and Belarus.

How long does Grenada citizenship take?

As of October 2026, Grenada citizenship realistically takes 4–6 months end to end. Grenada is the only programme where the law sets a deadline for the state: 60 days from a complete application (CBI Act No. 15 of 2013, s. 8(2)), though the minister may also 'delay for cause' with no outer limit.

Does a Grenada passport give access to the US E-2 visa?

As of October 2026, Grenada is the only one of the five Caribbean programmes with a US treaty that allows its citizens to apply for the E-2 investor visa. The passport gives only the right to apply: the visa requires a separate, substantial investment in a real US business and is not a green card.

Whom can I include in a Grenada application?

As of October 2026, Grenada accepts the spouse, children up to 30 (where financially dependent), parents and grandparents with no age limit, and unmarried siblings of the applicant — one of the broadest family definitions among CBI programmes.

Does a Grenada passport give visa-free China and Schengen?

As of October 2026, Grenada is the only Caribbean passport with visa-free short trips to mainland China, and gives about 145+ visa-free destinations including Schengen and the UK. Visa-free Schengen is under EU pressure: since December 2025 a CBI scheme alone is grounds for suspension, and the Commission has asked for wind-down by 1 June 2028.

Can a Russian citizen apply for Grenada citizenship?

No. As of October 2026, Grenada does not accept applications from citizens of Russia or Belarus. For an RF/RB passport holder the route to the US E-2 visa runs through Turkish citizenship instead.
